Expert Witness

An expert witness report is an independent and unbiased report often prepared for a court or a tribunal and will not favour an instructing client. An expert witness report would, for example, be prepared where there is a matrimonial dispute and a valuation of the family home is required or where there are allegations of sub standard or poor workmanship following the construction of an extension or other home improvements.

The report will deal only with facts and give the surveyors opinion on those matters for which the surveyor has been instructed and which are within the surveyors own knowledge. If either party in a dispute is known to the surveyor and/or there is a conflict of interest, the instruction would be declined. At the end of an expert witness report there will be a declaration that the surveyor has complied with his duty and a statement of truth confirming that the opinions expressed by the surveyor represent a true and complete professional opinion.
